Fendoku
A Regional Queens puzzle: one marker in every row, column, and colored region, with no two markers touching — not even diagonally. Here is how each mode works, and what to check when something looks wrong.
The basics
- ControlsSingle tap marks a square with × (impossible). Double tap places a piece — tap a placed piece again to remove it in Campaign and Daily. Drag across cells to paint or erase × marks in one stroke. In Zen, single tap also removes a placed piece.
- Hearts and starsIn Campaign and Daily, a wrong placement costs a heart and a star; three mistakes restart the puzzle. Finish with all three hearts for three stars. Zen has no hearts — invalid placements are just rejected with visual feedback.
- Hints and boostersThe theme button reveals one correct placement; the lightbulb marks every cell already eliminated by your placed pieces. You get five of each per day, resetting at 5 AM local time — separate from the Daily Challenge's own 08:00 UTC rollover. Both are free when only one piece remains to place.
- ThemesThe palette button switches themes. New ones unlock as you clear campaign sections, or create your own from the in-app theme editor, starting from any built-in palette.
Common questions
What's the goal of each puzzle?
Place exactly one marker in every row, every column, and every colored region, so that no two markers touch — including diagonally. Wrong placements show a red × animation and are not placed.
How is Daily Challenge different from Campaign?
Daily Challenge gives everyone the same puzzle for the day, sized by the UTC weekday, rolling over at 08:00 UTC. Campaign is your own 999-level trail that ramps in size and difficulty as you go, with themed sections that unlock new themes along the way.
My progress isn't syncing between devices.
Sync runs through your private iCloud database, so every device needs to be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive enabled. Progress is always saved locally first, so nothing is lost while sync catches up.
I ran out of hints and boosters.
You get five hints and five boosters per day; unused ones don't roll over, and the allowance resets at 5 AM local time. Both are free any time only one piece remains to place on the board.
How do I unlock more themes?
Two themes are available from the start. The rest unlock by finishing campaign sections — each section's final level grants a few new themes, all the way to level 999. You can also design your own theme from the editor without unlocking anything.
Can I replay a past Daily Challenge?
Yes — open the streak calendar from the Daily tab to revisit and replay any previous day's puzzle.
How do I delete my data?
Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. If iCloud sync was on, your data also lives in your own private iCloud database; remove it from Settings › iCloud on your device. Nothing is stored anywhere else — there is no account and nothing is collected.
