Picture Grid Speech privacy policy
Updated September 27, 2026. Developer: Nathan Fennel.
Boards and photos
Picture Grid Speech saves communication boards, profiles, card labels, spoken phrases, photos, and preferences on your device. Camera or photo access is used when you choose an image for a card or profile. Image cutout processing takes place on your device. No app account is required for local boards.
Device speech and parent choices
Version 2.0 (build 3) uses the device voice and has no online speech service configured. Its communication phrases and photos stay on the device. It does not offer online image search, advertising, or tracking.
In builds configured with online voices, device speech remains the default until a parent opens the parent-gated profile settings and explicitly allows online speech. The consent screen explains what is sent and stored. This choice applies to every profile on the device. Choosing Device voice stops future online speech requests.
What configured online speech sends
After a parent allows online speech in a configured build, card phrases and voice settings are sent to Nathan Fennel's speech service and ElevenLabs. Requests can happen automatically when boards open, cards are saved, or a voice changes, as well as when speech needs an uncached clip. Profile names, photos, and complete boards are not included in those requests, but a phrase can itself contain personal information. Online services receive normal connection information, such as an IP address.
Storage and deletion
Configured online speech stores text and generated audio on the speech service, including text awaiting generation and normalized text associated with cached audio. The app also keeps a local audio cache. There is no automatic expiration period or in-app server deletion control. Removing a local card or profile, or returning to Device voice, does not delete earlier server copies. Contact the developer about access or deletion of online speech data. ElevenLabs handles requests under its own privacy terms.
Local boards, profiles, and images can be managed in the app. Device backups are controlled by your system settings and may retain copies. Image cutouts are processed on the device. Parent controls protect editing, profiles, and speech privacy choices.
Support and changes
If you contact the developer, the information you provide is used to respond to your request. This policy will be updated when the app's practices change.
