Straight Up Browser

Help with browsing, private iCloud sync, privacy controls, and the optional agent and integrations. The public version of Straight Up Browser is a direct download for Mac.

First things to try

  • A page will not loadReload it, then try the same address in Safari to check whether the site or connection is down. If it works there, check Settings › Web Content › Enable JavaScript and temporarily test without the content blocker. Browser deliberately refuses invalid certificates while strict SSL is enabled; do not bypass a certificate warning unless you understand and trust the site.
  • The app is behaving strangelyClose the affected tab and open it again. If the problem affects every tab, fully quit and reopen Browser. Your normal tabs and bookmarks are saved; incognito tabs are intentionally temporary.
  • A site has stale or broken stateClear data for that site from the page actions menu. For a wider reset, Settings › Privacy can clear browsing history, cookies, cache, and local storage. This may sign you out of websites.

Common questions

My tabs or bookmarks aren't syncing.

On every device, sign in to the same Apple Account and make sure iCloud is available. In Browser Settings, turn on Sync browser data across your devices. The main sync switch takes effect after you relaunch Browser; live page state has its own optional switch. Sync can take a little time after a device comes back online, but changes are saved locally first.

Incognito tabs, cookies, website storage, logins, downloads, and saved workspaces never sync. The default “Just opening tabs” mode also lets a device close a tab locally without closing it everywhere; choose “Opening and closing tabs” for one shared set.

Why won't a scheduled task or integration run?

A task stays unavailable until its model provider, trusted integration, approved folder, browser session, policy, and capability requirements are satisfied on this Mac. Open the task review to see the exact missing dependency instead of guessing.

A website can't use my camera or microphone.

Reload the page and trigger the site's camera or microphone action again. If you previously denied it, open Settings › Site Permissions, revoke the saved choice, and let the site ask again. Also check the device's system Privacy & Security settings. Incognito tabs never remember a permission choice.

Why doesn't passkey sign-in appear or finish?

Straight Up Browser does not currently expose third-party-browser passkey/WebAuthn sign-in. Sites should offer another sign-in method. Browser also does not provide a password vault or form-autofill database; use the website's alternative login flow or open that login in Safari when a passkey is required.

A download finished, but I can't find it.

Open Browser's Downloads view and use the share action to save or open the file. On Mac, downloaded files use the folder configured in Settings. Clearing download history only removes Browser's record; delete the saved file from its destination separately.

How private is incognito browsing?

Incognito tabs keep their tabs and website data in memory and do not add persistent history, sync data, permission decisions, or Fast Forward learning. Close the incognito tabs to end that temporary session. Incognito does not hide activity from websites, internet providers, employers, schools, or network administrators.

How do I clear cookies or other browsing data?

Settings › Privacy › Manage Cookies lets you inspect and delete individual cookies or all cookies. Clear Browsing Data removes history, cookies, cache, and local storage. The page actions menu also has narrower controls for the current website, current browsing session, or all sessions. Clearing website data can sign you out and remove offline site state.

How do I remove synced or agent data?

Turn browser sync off to stop new browser-data syncing. Each agent-definition sync switch is separate; when you turn one off, choose whether to keep local copies or delete that category's iCloud copies. Apple's iCloud storage controls can remove the app's remaining private CloudKit data from your Apple Account.

On Mac, Agent settings also let you delete runs, conversations, scoped memory, and data for an MCP connection, revoke a connection, and remove provider credentials from Keychain. See the privacy policy for the complete data map.

My Mac model provider or MCP connection fails.

Confirm the endpoint is reachable and the selected provider preset matches its API. Re-enter an expired or revoked API key in Agent settings. For MCP, use the connection test, review the displayed server identity and tools, and complete OAuth again if the authorization expired. Browser will not silently broaden permissions when a server or tool schema changes—you must review the connection again.

Provider and server outages are outside Browser's control. Avoid sending sensitive page or file content until you have reviewed that third party's privacy and retention terms.

Still stuck?

Email support@100apps.studio with what you expected, what happened instead, your Browser version, device model, and macOS version. Include the website address when the issue is site-specific, but remove private query text, account details, API keys, and other secrets. Screenshots are helpful when they do not contain sensitive information.

Straight Up Browser is open source, so technical reports can also be filed on GitHub Issues. Do not post private browsing data or credentials there.
