Reading a page

01Open a cluttered article and turn on Reader Mode.⌥⌘R

02Open a page in another language and flip it.⌥⌘TTranslation runs on device. Nothing leaves your Mac.

03With a translated page open, hold Option and hover any sentence.The original text peeks through under the pointer.

04Now open the translation as a second pane instead.⇧⌥⌘TOriginal and translation side by side, which is the version you want when the translation is doing something strange.

05In Settings, Content, list the languages you read and turn on auto-translate.A page outside that list translates itself on arrival. The same pane manages installed and downloadable language packs one at a time, and keeps a history of every page it detected versus every page it actually translated.

06Find something on a long page.⌘F⌘G⇧⌘GSettings, General sets where the find bar sits and how hard each match flashes when you land on it.

07Zoom in, out, and back to actual size.⌘+⌘-⌘0

08Press Space to page down, then change how far it goes.Settings, General has a percentage. A full screen of scroll always loses the line you were on.

09In Settings, Appearance, pull the page white point down.It dims the page itself, not the display, so a white article stops being a lamp. Extended range goes further than the slider normally allows.

10Set when the white point applies: always, between set times, sunset to sunrise, while any Focus is on, or while the Mac is in dark mode.

11Print the page, then export it as a PDF.⇧⌘P⌘PSettings, General can swap those two, or hand both chords to Back and Forward if you never print from the keyboard.

12Take all four kinds of screenshot.⌘S⇧⌘S⌥⌘S⇧⌥⌘SVisible area, full page, the element under the cursor, and the window with its tab bar. Settings, Screenshots sets the format and folder for each one separately, and decides whether ⌘S in a split captures the focused pane or every pane.
