Giant Text

For iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV & Vision Pro

Turn your screen into a sign.

Type a few words and Giant Text fills the entire display — big enough to read from across a room, down a hallway, or over a crowd. No account, no setup, no network. Open it, type, hold it up.

Coming soon to the App StoreHelp & support

Version 1.0 · iOS 18.5, macOS 14, visionOS 2.5 or later · Free · No in-app purchases

It doesn't collect anything

No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no tracking, no ads. Giant Text makes no network requests at all — it works permanently in airplane mode. What you type is stored on your device and nowhere else. There are no third-party SDKs in the app.

Made for when talking doesn't work

  • Meeting someone at an airport, station, or crowded venue
  • Getting attention across a noisy room, workshop, or concert
  • Talking with someone who is deaf or hard of hearing
  • Making a message readable for low-vision friends and family
  • Quick signs: BACK IN 5, ON MY WAY, THIS WAY

What you get

Text that sizes itself

Every message is measured and scaled to the largest size that still fits the screen — you never pick a font size. Spread a longer message over up to five lines and Giant Text breaks it on word boundaries rather than mid-word.

Held the way you actually hold a phone

On iPhone the device stays in portrait while the text renders sideways, so the long edge of the screen becomes the width of your message and the letters get as large as the hardware allows. You can flip which way it rotates.

20 color themes

Classic black and white, plus nineteen more — Ocean Breeze, Sunset Glow, Forest Twilight, Crimson Night, and the rest. Each theme has its own hand-tuned light and dark variant, so contrast stays readable whichever mode you are in. Turn on Random Theme and it picks a fresh one each day.

Animations, when you want to be noticed

Bloom scales each letter in turn, Ripple sends a wave through the line, and Jitter shakes the whole message. Each has an intensity slider, and "None" leaves the text perfectly still.

Typography controls

Switch between serif and sans-serif, set bold and italic, and open up or tighten letter spacing. Small changes, but they matter when a word has to read from thirty feet away.

A Home Screen widget

Small, medium, and large widgets show your current message at a glance, without opening the app.

On every screen you own

iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro. Tap to edit on iPhone and iPad, two-finger tap for options. Click to edit on the Mac, right-click for options. On Apple TV the Play/Pause button edits and the Menu button opens options.

Speaks your language

Giant Text is localized into 55 languages, so the interface is in your language even though the message is yours.
